From November 9 through November 13, Art Goes to School will visit each elementary
classroom at SRS and share its fall portfolio of art reproductions with the students. Art
can play a critical role in developing both a child’s imagination and understanding of a
wide variety of cultures by looking at the way different people express themselves. The
art work presented to the children represents a wide cross-section of styles and genres
that cover periods from pre-history to today’s contemporary art. The presentations are
informal and informative and often include game-playing to encourage children to “look,
listen and feel” art.
Art Goes to School of Delaware Valley is a non-profit volunteer organization that brings
art appreciation classes to nearly 155,000 elementary and middle school children in the
area. The Wallingford-Swarthmore Chapter is made up of parents of all ages who visit
kindergarten through seventh grade classrooms twice each school year. The
organization provides workshops and lectures to train volunteers. If you would like
more information about volunteering, please contact chapter leader
