REMINDER REGARDING TRAFFIC AND SAFETY PROCEDURES AT SRS, TKP AND TRINITY

Parents, please read the following message from Dr. Davis regarding safety when dropping off and picking up students. Please help keep our students safe! Thank you!

The following are illegal and dangerous practices and must be avoided:

  • Pulling into the main SRS faculty parking lot to drop students off
  • No vehicles are to be driven though or parked in the faculty parking area
  • Passing or crossing in front of a loading or unloading school bus with its flasher on
  • Making U-turns in the streets where our children are crossing
  • Double parking to drop off passengers
  • Crossing in front of oncoming traffic to get to a drop off place
  • Using driveways on College or Princeton Avenues to make turnarounds
  • Parents are to park on College Ave. or surrounding streets and walk through the lobby of SRS when dropping off or picking up students for SRS, TKP or Trinity.

Note: The Swarthmore Police Department has been asked to give us support in reinforcing this message throughout the school year.

We Need YOU For Sally Foster Gift Wrap Sale!

Update:  We found someone!  Thanks!

The first fundraiser of the year, Sally Foster Gift Wrap, needs a new coordinator!  This year Sally Foster will be handled completely online, no more tallying orders or sorting orders when they come in.  Students will instead sell gift cards, which buyers can use online and items will be directly shipped to their homes.

The coordinator simply needs to be the contact person for Sally Foster,  organize handing out the brochures and collect money at the end of the sale.  This will be a much simpler process than in years past!  In order to run this sale, our biggest fundraiser of the year, we need a volunteer as soon as possible.  Without this fundraiser we will need to make significant cuts to the Home and School budget across the board.

If you can help, PLEASE contact Kathryn Mehan at kmehan1130 (at) comcast (dot) net or Marj Hatzell  at mhatzell (at) verizon (dot) net as soon as possible!

Please take the SRS Foreign Language Survey!

During the 2010-2011 school year, Home and School will begin offering fee-based extra-curricular language courses taught by professional language instructors.  SRS will continue to offer free extra-curricular language/culture classes taught by Swarthmore College students.

We need your feedback to finalize the cost, times and dates of the new fee-based programs.

Please take a few minutes to fill out our short survey by clicking here.

Your responses will also help shape the program beyond the 2010-2011 school year.

If you have any questions about the new fee-based language programs, please e-mail Vippy Yee at (vippy1@yahoo.com) vippy1 (at) yahoo (dot) com or Sandra Sullivan at (ssulliva@comcast.net) ssulliva (at) comcast (dot) net.   Registration forms will be available in mid-August.
